Funding in support of the programs, services and facilities offered by the Emmaus Community since 1993 has been provided by multiple sources, including public and private foundations and organizations as well as by the generous stewardship of individuals and families who believe strongly in the significance and scope of the work that we do. Donations to the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh, a 501(c)(3) organization, are tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations. We sponsor several major fundraising activities each year, including The Emmaus Golf Classic, and Spring Gala, as well as several smaller endeavors such as raffles. We welcome all who are interested in Emmaus to participate in these important and highly enjoyable activities.
While we have been blessed with a level of contributions over time that has allowed us to serve greater numbers of special people, we feel that our work in this regard is far from complete. In Allegheny County, there are 1400 people
on a waiting list for services. 145 of them are in an emergency situation,
meaning that they need services immediately. 321 of those individuals
need residential services in homes like those offered by Emmaus that provide
24-hour support and supervision. The other 934 people are in “critical
need” meaning that services will be needed within one year.1
Emmaus is helping to address this crucial need one person at a time. Our
goal is to continue to open residential homes to serve people who can
no longer be cared for by their family due to death or illness.
